The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 directed the Small Business Administration (SBA) to create a Governmentwide certification program for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. Effective January 1, 2023, SBA assumed responsibility for certifying Veteran-Owned small firms. If you have questions, please contact SBA at vetcert@sba.gov. Regional Procurement Office West’s Quarterly Small Business Virtual Event will cover the need-to-know Small Business Regulatory process to help increase your VA procurement readiness, regulatory understanding, and opportunities on winning a VA contract.  Additionally a General Services Administration (GSA) staff member will provide a synopsis about Category Management as it relates to Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDBs).  

Subjects covered will include: VA Rule of Two, The Vet First Program, Small Business Hierarchy of Preference; discovering opportunities in sub-contracting, Forecast of Contracting Opportunities, and teaming/JV/Mentor Protégé.  During the presentation given by the GSA staff member information regarding Advancing Equity in Federal Procurement will be provided. The speaker will provide discuss new opportunities for SDBs resulting from OMB Memorandum M-22-03. Lastly, Category Management policies that boost contracting opportunities for SDBs and the SDB certification process will be covered.
